While serving on Active Duty, we noticed our fellow judge advocates had a lot of great ideas for military jutice reform.
Whether minor changes intended to alleviate annoyances, or major reforms to better align the system’s practice with its purspose. Very few, if any, have been implemented. From those numerous conversations, lamenting ways the system could be made better, we had the idea to do something about it. The Court Martial Institute is our effort to gather reform ideas from current and former practitioners, as well as others with a passion for military justice reform, and put them in one place. With any hope, the consolidation will provide a means of elevating them to policy makers.
Separately, CMI will be the new home of the Court Martial App which I created during a break from trying courts martial in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope, that with the help of some other programming JAGs, we can continue to develop it into a useful tool for practitioners.
